In my recent work the pomegranate symbolizes the communion of East and West. Though embedding female identity and speaking with a female voice, my pomegranates are not intended as glib feminist representations. Rather, they emphasize the possibility of a common ground for understanding.
They possess no particular politic or persuasion, their female communicative element enshrines a universalizing tendency to understanding. The values of the pomegranate can harmonize East and West. |
